Waiting on Sister

I am snuggled next to Jett in bed watching House Hunters International (i want to be on that show!! Lol!)while we wait for my sister & her family to drive down south to see me! I am trying to stay awake...struggling to keep my eyeballs open! She is suppose to get here in the wee hours of the morning.

Soooo...I will be taking a short break from blogging for a few days...but I may sneak & post some stuff :) I was in the middle of a new tutorial y'day...but Jaxon(my 2 year old) snuck into my craft room and snagged my "key" (a clue) material & I can't find it! Lol! Ahhh...the joys of twos!

Happy New Year friends!!!!

My Bestie

I just wanted to give a shout out to my besties (my best friend), Missy!

No reason in particular, I am just thinking about her!  She has had to work this weekend, missing Christmas with her family.  I wish she could have holidays off, but when you are in the medical field, the sick come first.

She is always there when I need her, she is a super crafty & creative person & my biggest prayer warrior/shoulder to cry on/biggest cheerleader!

Love you Missy!!

{btw} we are sis-n-laws!  How cool is that your BFF is your family?!?!

She has a BLOG too..head over there!

Things I am Excited about!

a.) I am super-duper excited that my Foot Warmer got featured on Craft Gossip!!  Can you  believe that?!?!?  Check it out HERE!  They also posted it on their Facebook page & Twitter page!  How cool!!!  I am such a BIG fan!!!!

b.) My new iTouch.  I LOVE it!!  I got it y'day for Christmas.  I had a 1st generation iTouch which I loved, but it had no speakers on it.  All other generations afterward have speakers.  A whole new world has opened up to me!  Plus it has FaceTime where you video chat...so cool...but now I to make sure I am wearing make up when I use this feature!

c.) Jett is finally starting to eat baby food!  Geeze...only took him 9mo to want to eat!  He has been exclusively breastfed until now!  Jett is now a semi-expert crawler, clapping & is trying to pull himself up!!  Where did my tiny lil baby go?!?!

d.) I got some new crafting supplies for Christmas!  A new craft mat, a rotary cutting thingy, a score board and for my new venture....cake decorating supplies (and a private cake decorating lesson!!)!!  I can't wait to use them all....and share with you!!!

e.) My silly, sweet, awesome boys (this includes my hubby & doggy too!)  I just love 'em to pieces!!!

We Are The Reason

Merry Christmas everyone!!  I will be taking a short break from blogging to spend time with my sweet family this Christmas season.  I will be back in a few days I am sure!  I pray everyone has a super blessed Christmas.  I know it is sort of a cliche saying, but it is so true...

"Jesus is the REASON for the season"

And the reason?  We are!!!  Enjoy this song...it was one of my favorites as a lil girl.  Avalon covered the song beautifully!  I always tear up when I hear it!

Merry CHRISTmas my wonderful blog friends!!!

FREE Personalized Rubber Stamp!!!

Last week I went to Vista Print and ordered a FREE rubber stamp!  I just had to pay for shipping (around $7...but I had ordered a few other FREE items (a mug & pen...get as much free stuff as they offer, you still pay the same amount of shipping!).  The rubber stamp is "suppose" to be for return addresses, but what I did was I skipped the first & third line and just had them print my blog name "simplyjenna" on the second line.  In doing so, it made the font bigger!  I picked "slow" shipping (they said about 21 days...I think they do this to scare people into upgrading to more expensive shipping), but I got my order in a week!  I am really happy with how it turned out!!! Now when I make cards, I will be able to stamp my name on the back!!

Head on over to Vista Print & look for a their FREE items they offer!  You can get free business cards, stamps, pens, mugs, tote bags, window decals, ect.!  Check 'em out!

Bag & Broach

Sooo....I couldn't wait....I had to give my BFF her Christmas gifts early...I am not so good at the patience!  :)
Here is a bag I made for her!  It is reversible.  I added an extra large broach to it!  Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic...I forgot to take a pic of it with my real camera (apposed to my "fake" camera on my cell!).

Burp Cloths & Onesies

I made these for a baby shower that Joe went to last week.  Yes, I said Joe!  One of his teachers is having a baby & they threw her a shower.  I made a bunch of burp cloths for myself when I was pregnant with Jett.  Not to BRAG or anything, but they were my favorite!  ;)  I also personalized a onesie as well :)

Isn't this fabric yummy!!!!  I got it at Hobby Lobby!!  On sale too!!  Go me!!

Rolled the onesie up with the two burpcloths inside & tied a ribbon around it!   I think that ribbons are the cherry on top!

Teething Necklace

Isn't this too cute!!!!  A teething necklace!!  I want one...err...Jett wants one!!

Megan from Walking Lucia made this!  She is going to sell them in her etsy shop soon!  If she does not sell 'em soon, I will be forced to try to make one for myself...lol!!   Soooo cute!!  Yellow is my favorite color right now...so this caught my eye right away!

Broaches & Pins

Look what I have been working on the past few days!  Felt Floral Broaches & Pins!  I made one (a super big one) for my BFF for Christmas.  I gave it to her early cause I just couldn't wait to give it to her! I am not good at keeping surprises!!!

The first & third one are broaches.  The second one (my favorite!) is a pin!  I love how they turned out!  They were fun & "somewhat" easy to make.  I looked at some tutorials on how to make felt flowers, but they weren't working for me.  So I figured out a way that worked for me, which I ended up having to hand sew each petal down.  I really love how they turned out...so yummy!!

Foot Warmer Tutorial

My feet have been {freezing} lately with the cold weather!!! My husband I came up with the idea to make a foot warmer cozy!  After some trial & error (lots of error I might add), I came up with a fast & easy way to make one!  I hope following this tutorial makes it easier for you to make one for yourself or as a gift (this tutorial is not intended for you to make & sell this product!)!

Foot Warmer Cozy Tutorial

Step 1: To make a pattern, I took some of my husbands shoes & traced around them onto some Christmas wrapping paper.  It had a nice grid on the back of the paper. I allowed about 1" allowance around the shoes. The pattern is approx 12x15.

Step 2: After cutting out the pattern, I rounded off the edges by using a DVD.

Step 3. After rounding the edges of the paper, I fold the pattern in half for the top part of the cozy.

Step 4: I cut 3 pieces of  fabric with the pattern: batting (for insulation), interior fabric (the minky material) & exterior fabric (the patterned blue fabric).  Because the minky material (brown fabric) is a good insulating fabric anyway, I did not need to use batting.

Step 5: With the pattern folded in half, I cut two pieces of fabric (interior & exterior).

Step 6: Take the "halfsies" and pin them together right side together at the straight edge. You will sew together the straight edge (the bottom). After it is sewed together, be sure to turn it right side out :)

Step 7: Layer the fabric as shown: 1st Layer Batting, 2nd Layer bottom fabric, 3rd Layer Halfsies fabric, 4th Layer Top Fabric.  Make sure that the 2nd & 4th Layer are right side together & the halfsies fabric is right side together with the matching fabric touching each other!

Step 8: Pin & sew the layers together, allowing for a 3" opening for turning.  I allowed about 1/2 seam allowance when sewing.  I had to go with the flow with sewing the edges because when you work with minky material (the brown fabric), it moves a lot when sewing:

Step 9: Once sewed together, trim the excess fabric from the edges.

Step 10: Turn the fabric right side out (make sure you turn the top & bottom fabrics rightsize out...not the batting side!):

NOTE: This Foot Warmer Cozy is reversible!  But I like to keep my feet minky side in!  Soooo soft & cozy!

Step 11: Fill your fabric with rice (a funnel would be a handy tool to use, but I could not find mine) between the minky material & batting:

Add as much rice as you like, but do not overfill.  I fill mine half way full (I am a glass half full kindof a gal!).

Step 12: Sew together the opening to close it off.

Step 13: All done!!!!! Pop it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and enjoy!!!

Crazy Town

I has been crazy town around here!  Yes...I have been slacking on my blog...but I have NOT been slacking around at home!  I have had two sick babies.  Fevers, runny noses, vomiting...fun stuff!!  Everyone is better now, Thank you Jesus!!  I have also been on a mad dash making last minute gifts.  I would LOVE to show you them, but I have to wait until after I give the gifts...don't wanna ruin the surprise!

I also got all my Christmas cards out...hope I did not forget anyone!!! Then with the help of my parents, I got all 100 those Christmas Chocolate bars.  I never thought we would finish them...but we did!  My poor parents....they thought they were just stopping by.  Little did they know, they were going to be gluing, cutting & tying!  Thank you Mom & Dad!!

Got all my wrapped all my gifts, shopping done, shipped off gifts, ran a bunch of errands, had a few snow days....BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!

Now on to Christmas cookies.....

Clipboard Frames

Isn't this sooooo cute!!  I am totally going to do this craft this weekend!  I will post a picture when I finish my project!

Lisa, from Room by Room, came up with this super cute idea on how to display your favorite photograph!  Aren't her boys super cute?!?!  Go HERE to check out how she did this!

Personalized Onesie

I made a personalized onesie by painting the letter "g" onto the front of it.  I used the freezer paper method & used my Cricut to cut the "g" out.  I used the Plaintin Schoolbook Cartridge for the font.  I think it turned out pretty cute!  I wish I would have thought of this when my kids were newborn size!

Coffee Cozy

Over the past few days, I have been making some Coffee Cozy's!  At my last trip to Starbucks, I made sure to keep the cardboard cozy that comes with their cups.  I opened it up & traced it onto a piece of paper to make a pattern.  I allowed an 1/4" seam allowance.  I used interior & exterior fabric, batting for the middle & velcro!  It was pretty easy!  For one, I added an old charm I had from my scrapbooking days!

A Coffee Cozy would make a perfect gift for Christmas...or to just keep yourself!  An easy way to be green & save some green!

I want to win!!!

Man...how I would love to win a fat quarter bundle from Poppy Seed Fabrics!! If you win, you can choose one of two palettes, warm or cool:

I would TOTALLY pick the cool palette!!  Soooo cool! (pardon the pun!)

If you would like a chance to win, head over HERE to Lemon Tree Creation!  But if you win, you gotta give it to me....just kidding...;)

Homemade Kid Ornaments

Just in case you were wondering, I can NOT take credit for these masterpieces! I know, I know...I was super tempted to claim them as my own handywork....but I can not! Hahaha! My son, Jaden (the middle snowman) and my neice & nephew made these ornaments y'day when I was babysitting them.

I can however take credit for cutting out the snowman shapes on the Cricut. I used the Winter Frolic cartridge at 4". I also cut at few accessories, but we did a lil improvising (cotton balls, googly eyes, markers & ribbon). Don't you love the snowman on the right, his hat is upside down! So cute!!
