Photo Card
View the entire collection of cards.

What do you think?  They are just the regular ol' photo cards, but I think they are cute!  I wish I could have gotten all 3 boys to look at the camera, but I love how my oldest is looking down at his baby brother...and my 3 year old....I just love his silly face!

This card makes me smile....I hope it makes the people who open my card smile too!

Thanksgiving Day Costumes

This year, we decided to dress all the kids of my husband's family up as the attendees of the first Thanksgiving..

Pilgrim & Native Americans

I sewed all the vests & my BFF/SIL made all the head pieces. I used {THIS} tutorial & she made up her own for the hats!

Most of the kids enjoyed dressing up (minus my two lil ones)...it took 5 adults to get them to take pictures...and we STILL didn't get all of them to look & smile at the camera!  Oh well...they still looked cute!!

Hope you all had a GREAT Thanksgiving Day!!!

Ruffle Apron

In my spare time (hahaha), I made a ruffle apron as a thank you gift for my friend who did my blog designed this blog!  I have never done anything like this before!  It was fun & frustrating all at the same time!  Everything was running smoothly until I got to the elastic thread part.  Apparently my Brother machine & elastic thread don't like each other!  After googleing the problem & looking at many youtube videos, I found that my bobbin tension was too loose, had to tighten it a bit.

Here is the apron...

I *hope* she likes it!!

How did I make it?  I *mostly* went off of {THIS}tutorial, but went off the cuff on some of the things :)

BEST Turkey Recipe EVER

I am not gonna brag...OK, I will ...but I make the BEST roasted turkey!!

It is sooooooo juicy & flavorful...my mouth is watering just looking at this picture.  If you are looking for a new & yummy turkey recipe, give this recipe a try:

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 pound) whole turkey
  • 6 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons chicken bouillon
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons seasoning salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Rinse and wash turkey. Discard the giblets, or add to pan if they are anyone's favorites.
  2. Place turkey in a Dutch oven or roasting pan. Separate the skin over the breast to make little pockets. Put 3 tablespoons of the butter on both sides between the skin and breast meat. This makes for very juicy breast meat.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the water with the bouillon. Sprinkle in the parsley and minced onion. Pour over the top of the turkey. Sprinkle seasoning salt over the turkey.
  4. Cover with foil, and bake in the preheated oven 3 1/2 to 4 hours, until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 180 degrees F (80 degrees C). For the last 45 minutes or so, remove the foil so the turkey will brown nicely.

Etsy App

Did ya know that Etsy FINALLY has an app??  I wonder what took them so long?  I have crazy dancing monkey apps for goodness sakes...if a monkey can shake his booty, then Etsy could have had an app long time ago.

But I degress.

If you have an iPhone (or an iTouch in my case...but better have an iPhone for Christmas 'cause it is the only thing I want & have been begging for one for a year!!)...Etsy has created a FREE app!!

Take the craft above...they turned the bulb into a mini terrarum!  They used thing that are already probably around our house or yard! Some other ideas that I had that I can't find any examples of would be to fill these glass bulbs with....

  • fabric scraps that are cut with pinking shears
  • paper shreds
  • glitter...just get some spray adheisive & spray it in the hole, then fill it up with glitter

My Favorite Veteran

I know I am a lil late on writing this.

My lil toother was giving me problems all weekend :(  Gotta call the dentist as soon as it opens this morning!  Anyhoo...enough about my whoas & back to my {favorite} veteran...

My Papa! He is a WWII Veteran.

A few days ago, my 8 year old was rummaging through my craft desk/table (I have told him a zillion times not to touch my stuff...but my stuff is just too hard & cool to resist...even for me..hehehehe).  He found something on my desk....

It was my Papa's old WWII army issued coin purse...wait, no, that can't be right...it was probably called a pouch?  Wallet?  My Grama gave it to me.  I don't know if Papa even knows that I have it, lol....but I do..and I cherish it!  I keep it next to my sewing machine.  Every time I see it, I think of him!

I am so thankful for his service & for all the other men & women who put their lives on the line for us.

{Super Cool Story Alert}  This past summer when I was in Ohio, I went out to eat with my grandparents & my boys.  We went out to Cracker Barrel (yum!).  My grandfather wore his WWII Vet hat.  My Grama says that every time he wears it, people always stop him & thank him for his service.  So anyway, we are sitting down looking at our menus & this man comes up to our table and asks if he could shake my grandfather's hand.  He thanks him for his service...and then hands him $50 and says, "And I want to thank you by paying for your meal"...and walked off!!  What!!!  My grandfather was stunned...as the rest of us were!  I joked with Papa that if this happens all the time, we are gonna take this show on the road & hit a new restaurant every day! {just kidding, just kidding}

The reason I am telling you this pretty awesome story is that it left a huge impression on me.  I don't know why, but it never crossed my mind to even go up to a veteran in public and thank them, until I experienced this.  Now, everytime I see someone wearing any veteran clothing...then I go up to them to thank them for their service.

It is the least I can do.  They sacrificed their lives for my freedom.  I encourage you to do the same.  It just might make someones day!!
