Chevron Passport Cover

I *may* have possibly made the cutest passport cover ever!!

Who wants a boring looking government issued passport when you can present it looking like this???

I use some gray chevron fabric by Riley Blake Fabrics and some yellow scrap fabric I got from Joann's.  I added a gray button to the ruffle & have a yellow & white baker's twine to wrap around the button to secure it!

I just got this passport...and hope to fill it up with stamps from around the world!

In 35 more days, I will get my first stamp from.....

BARBADOS!!!!

My hubs & I have been slacking on our "Surprise Dates" this year...saving up for a bunch of "dates" to do with each other in Barbados!  We have been saving up for this trip for 3 years!!!  We are sooo excited!  We will be kid-free (thanks Nana & Gampie)...and get this...my BFF & her hubs is coming too!!!!  This will be a trip of a lifetime!!

You better bet your life that I will be posting those pics when we get back!!!

My First Skirt

 {I look so goofy in this pic!  LOL!  I hate standing there getting my pic taken, hubs was trying to hurry and take it in the parking lot of Red Robin...there were looker-on's so I felt uncomfortable...I just wanted to get it over! Hehehehe}

I bought some fabric to make one skirt...ok, ok, I went into the fabric shop intending to buy enough material to make one skirt, but ended up buying two skirts worth (I couldn't make up my mind!), PLUS a bunch of Art Gallery Fabric that they had on sale (all for the shop!)!!!

I really have no idea on how to make a skirt, except for a bunch of tutorials that I have found floating around on Pinterest, YouTube & a book that I bought last summer (Sew Serendipity).  With all of those tools on hand, I should be able to make a skirt easy! Right?

Here is the fabric that I bought:

I decided to make my first skirt using the Riley Blake fabric!  I started off using THIS tutorial...until I found out that I accidentally cut my fabric 4 inches too short (in width), so I couldn't do the pleats as I had originally planned...and since I had to go rouge...I ended up just figuring out how to make the skirt without using the tute.  What should have only taken me two hours tops (at least that is what I think skirt making time should be, lol!) took me 5.5 hours!!!  And not to mention the zillion re-do's on every single step!  I ended up making the skirt 4 inches too big in the waist & had to keep bringing it in .5" at a time.  I was aiming for the length to be at my knees...but ended up 2" shorter...and in retrospect, I like that better!

{did ya notice the matching necklace???}

All in all, I am pretty proud of my skirt!  I feel like I kinda started off with a more difficult concept (pleats, piecing fabric together, invisible zippers) for a first skirt, but thankfully, it didn't scare me off!  I am going to make a pencil skirt out of the Art Gallery Fabric, maybe this week(end)?  I will post those pics as soon as I am done!
